This page is specifically for computer help or questions about the website, wiki, IRC, email, etc. The people who run camp don't read this page; it's read by the volunteers who help run the website. If you have a camp-related question, try posting on IHaveAQuestion; someone there may be able to help. But, for camp questions, you may want to contact the NBTSC Office, since camp staff don't read the wiki. Reply

guy in charge, but I think I fixed BitchBox - I typed in the 1.530 version directly (which loaded), then went to edit it and saved the page again. It seems to be back up. -AndyP

every time I edit a page I get this, if I do back to the page via recent changes it was edited, so it is mostly annoying: Notice: Undefined index: tag in /home/sites/community.nbtsc.org/phpfnlib/wiki/index.php on line 192 Notice: Undefined index: reply_to in /home/sites/community.nbtsc.org/phpfnlib/wiki/index.php on line 194 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/sites/community.nbtsc.org/phpfnlib/wiki/index.php:192) in /home/sites/community.nbtsc.org/phpfnlib/wiki/index.php on line 334 Reply

Basically, I have recently found some stuff on this wiki that I am not at all comfortable being associated with, even in the fact that I have posted on it. I would like to know if there is a way to erase all of the old revisions of my page, which could possibly be linked to me via my name and a couple lucky keywords. Please send me an email about this to the dummy email that follows : frgfaasdfgr (at) yahoo (dot) com. Your rapid response (anyone who knows anything) will be greatly appreciated. This is important to me. Thanks so much in advance. _ Reply

Yes, it takes too long on large pages. Won't be fixed soon, sadly. Needs some major rewriting. —Aria Reply
You say large pages... so if we archive and clean them up will it work again? —Julia Reply
1.25.07 I'm not able to connect to IRC. I'm using mIRC, my port is set to 6667, server is castle.nbtsc.org, I've successfully connected before with the same settings and now I can't. Usually my antivirus program blocks my IRC communication but it's easy to pop into the console and turn off the settings so I can connect; those settings are turned off and I still can't get on. Any advice on where to go from here? Thanks much, AlexG Reply
2006-October-27: NBTSCDotOrg has gone screwy again. The last iteration (v. 1.61, 1.62, 1.63) looks like it was spammed, and a cut-and-paste restore went wrong. Should this be reported on SpamAlert? ... I think it would be nice to have a report spam
link on all pages. —Shad Reply
2006-October-24: What's the deal with SpamAlert? It looks like it's been over a month since anything's been despammed. Reply
Er... could someone tell me how to delete a page? A page I created (no worries, I won't run around deleting random things for the fun of it.) Thanks! ~Kelsey Reply

- Not possible, dear. I mean, I'm sure it's possible, but it's just not done. If you created a page by mistake, it'll get lost in the oblivion of wiki pages soon. No worries. ~Newt
But if you really need it deleted (personal info you didn't mean to post, or something), one of the admins can delete it for you. Email webmasters at nbtscdotorg if you don't want to post the page name here. —Rion Reply
2006-August-29: Show Changes isn't working in some cases - for example, the previous 2 versions of this page. Reply

It should show up now. (Though Aria may come along later and clean up my hasty patch-up job!) —Rion Reply

Hi anonymous, what do you mean by
going on? What sort of problem are you seeing? —Rion Replylook at the last several changes to it; it goes back and forth between being the page I expect and just the first paragraph, and now it's turned all bold and one paragraph. Reply
Looks like repeated failed attempts to spam it. I set it back to the latest good revision (1.59). —Rion Reply

July 27, 2006 — Is it at all possible/desirable to block (or ''bounce'') any post where the added words contain the word ''ringtone'' more than five times? Or, at least, put in another layer of authentication (such as the ''type the initials of this camp'' idea) if a suspicious post is detected? Just throwing this idea out there. -AndyP Reply
It is. I've been trying to think of solid ways that won't block legitimate posts. It's not super easy. but yeah. Very much that thing you just said. —Aria Reply
I just added this, and it's working well so far. I'm being pretty specific in what I block, and I can make the list accessible if anyone cares to see. —Aria Reply
20 July 06 Can I renew what I said down there about the Do Your Like Your Name posts and Google? There must be a way to fix this - can someone tell me quickly? Thanks so much! My stupid bad in the first place, but I appeal for help! Reply
There's no way to do it exactly. But Google should come around, realize it's not wanted, and pull the page. Eventually. What's the worry? —Aria Reply
Well, I dunno, I kinda don't want people to be able to find Wiki when they google me. It's not that I have a double identity or anything but I haven't been posting on Wiki with the idea that anyone could read it, which was rather silly. What with it being such an accepting community and everything I've been honest, and while I probably wouldn't mind friends of mine reading it I wouldn't like any randomer who knew my full name to be able to, like people in my class or whatever. And even my friends, to an extent, I haven't been writing to them, so I don't know whether I'd mind or not, and maybe I would. But I appreciate that it's not possible and I've mostly calmed down now. Thanks! Reply
sensitive contentwith a message about what's happening. Of course, that means some overhead per-hit, but if wiki is dynamically generating pages anyway it should be trivial.

I recently got a new computer (macbook pro, in case it matters...) and for a while, I was looking at wiki just fine. A few days ago, I started getting a pop-up box whenever I tried to go to the site, saying I need to enter my username and password to log in to default
. So basically, I can't look at wiki on my new computer which is kind of frustrating. any ideas?

I like the suggestion below about spam blocking. In addition, would a set of scripts such as Bad Behavior help at all? Is anything like this currently being used? Is there a reason why this would not work on this wiki? Just an idea. -AndyP Reply
An easy way to fix the spam problem would be to make it so you have to enter the initials of what camp we all share in common every time you want to edit a page. Kind of a hassle but easier than requiring logging in and it would stop the automated spamming. Reply
ReplyI asked this same question a while ago, but don't remember who answered it so I can't contact them. I have a NBTSC wiki (http://nbtsc.org/~newt/wiki) and have created a new folder (http://nbtsc.org/~newt/wiki/J) but when I try to edit one of pages in the new folder (http://nbtsc.org/~newt/wiki/J/INDEX) I can't save it. I rather sillily put two posts in Do You Like Your Name that you can get to by googling my full name or, which is worse, some of my friends' first and middle names, and I tried deleting it and also tried ticking the box that says Do Not Index This Page In Search Engines, but they still come up on Google. Do you know is there anything I can do about this? I'm really not happy about it. But it was stupid in the first place. Reply
Is there a better way of getting rid of spam than simply going into the revisions and saving the last revision before spamming? As in, do some people have a superpower way to get rid of spam, the whole revision of the page with spam in it, or blocking the computer that spammed a page from reposting? Or should I not bother posting notifications of spam and get rid of it my self? —Kayla Reply
If you say it here, it'll eventually get cleared entirely and be as if it never were. I keep trying to invent a non-annoying login system too so that we don't have to deal with this. —Aria Reply
