Camp Workshops2008 (v1.93)

Seems like it's time for CampWorkshops2009! —Kayla Reply

Hi! The old Camp Workshops page is now outdated as it is 2008 and it also appears to be broken so I made this one. Here is where you can discuss ideas for new workshops or on how to redo ones you've done in the past. If you want to attempt to view the old page you can go to CampWorkshops2007. Have fun! Reply

I have posted an (ever changing) list of workshops I am thinking of leading on my page towards the bottom. Check them out and feel free to leave feedback. -Frankie Reply

Ok, so I know Newt is good with the organizing of the pages, so she should do that. *wink wink, nudge nudge* I'm just going to add that I had the idea of holding a workshop about Judisim, being jewish and loving to talk about things I understand. What so people think??? —Lani\ Reply

  • Thanks! I'll add my stuff to the list.

N —(This is for 2009, but the 2009 workshop page isn't working, so I guess I'll post it here:) Natural Healing. Does anyone know about this topic? I would love to see a workshop on it! We could talk about Hemp oil, medicinal herbs, and other natural cures to illnesses and what we think about it... I see it as basically being a discussion, but if anyone has any other ideas or would be willing to lead a workshop on this, that would be great! Reply

Books that Change Lives: Let's talk books! What is your all-time favorite? What book inspires you? Makes you want to change the world? Saves you? Come and we'll have fun sharing what-to-read next ideas. Perhaps we'll even bring out the paper and markers and make artsy book lists. Because I love lists...and books- Anna Reply

Mapping our lives as unschoolers! This idea just occurred to me, so tell me what you think. I was taking a walk in the woods and I had some revelations (as I often do in the woods) about my life since I began unschooling. It seems that, since leaving school, I have passed through three and into four main stages I suppose. There was the redefining myself and the letting go of the agendas pressed upon me and the say yes! to life and now the searching for humility, embracing my tiny, incidental, important place in this universe. Anyway, I began to imagine all the crazy expressive art stuff I could with that (spoken word, collage, etc.) So. Would you be interested in mapping out your lives through art with me? Let's bring out the finger paint and the markers and make grass stains on white paper and make life maps! What do you say? -Anna Reply

Writing: In the ideal world, this will be somewhere around 2 hours long, maybe bleed into spontaneous time as well. This'll be a serious fiction writing workshop. There'll be excercises, discussions of technique and discipline, peer review, and above all a tontonton of writing. —Dave Reply

Scary Stories. This'd have to be people getting their own stories, my supply is limited, maybe a group up in the woods with just a couple flashlights and some blankets? (or westcoast at the fire?) FUN FUN FUN! —Ben P.S. if people would tell me they'd tell some (a) stories then it would certainly motivate me to actually do this :p Reply

Oobleck! quoiting from Wikipedia Oobleck is a fictional form of green precipitation invented by children's author Dr. Seuss The word has since been used to describe a mixture of corn starch and water. • I'm still working on it, but the general idea will be for people who are quiet and would like to at least know how to talk loudly and clearly to get help with articulation, projection and confidence. Or people who aren't necessarily quiet but are curious.

Circus style stuff. I can teach Unicycling, Juggling, and Gymnastics,(edit) stick-spinning(star wars-ish :-P) and anyone else can teach me whatever they can do. There's a good chance I will split this into several workshops, because theres so much to teach/learn, it would cut things short to put them in one. Comments? ~Ben Ninja Unicyclist~ Reply
