Reasons To Travel (diff of 1.41 and 1.42)

I realized the other day, that to the best of my knowledge, there are no pages up that fill this need, that need being a space for people to tell about some of the larger reasons for other unschooler like types that they would like to see, to travil in their direction, maybe your town has a kick ass museum, or you live next to a mounten that is great for snow boarding, or you go to the Oregon Countery Fair (or some other cool event) and want to put the word out that you are just another reason to go there too, or you have a really cool job that if given a few days notice you could bring someone along, and let them help out on whatever cool stuff you get to do, even if it is just hanging out with you in your dark room develping photos, there are all kinds of reasons for people to get out of the house, and travel! What are your reasons that they should see you? Reply

Because...because, because, because, becasue, the wonderful things she does!

Depending on what you want, and the time of year, there are all kinds of reasons to come to Wisconsin to see me! starting in the spring, I should be working, building straw bale houses, I have an awsome wood working shop set up in my barn that is powered by solar and wind, and is full of great hand tools, a laith for turning bowls, and almost anything you could wish for, for fixing bikes, or building your own idea. events that happen around here that I try to make my self present at include. (and when they happen) Reply

Laura Days (Laura Ingels Wilder, the one in the books, was from Wisconin) they do some really cool stuff with demonstrating older crafts, and have some really cool people to hang out with. this happens Mid September
Mid West Renewable Energy Fair ( http://www.the-mrea.org ) it just Rocks, 3 days of workshops, and hanging out with people who want to make the world better, and greener. this happens End Of June.

Regular Potlucks with cool back to the land type people. these happen Every Week Or Two.

Live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Cincinnati. It's near a big university, which provides for lots of interesting people-watching. There's everything from an Indie movie theater to three tattoo parlors to a post office to a punk rock venue to several coffeehouses within walking distance of my apartment.
Have a mother that makes wonderful cookies.

Live close to the airport, bus station, and the train station (though it's really tricky to find a train that comes into Cincinnati)
Can get free tickets to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which is world class, if you give me enough notice

Am Really familiar with public transportation, so it's really easy for us to go wherever you want
Live in a big city, which means we can do anything from going to a baseball game to going to lots of museums. About the only thing we don't have here is a beach, though we do have a river.

Have a nice futon you can sleep on
Plus I'm flexible and I lovelovelove having people visit me and doing what sound's cool to you, and there's a chili parlor next to my building we can go hang out every night in till 2 in the morning. The night manager is rad, and loves meeting my friends. Wheeee! So come visit me! -eira

3.I live on nearly 200 acres of land with a river, ponds, wild animals, lots of trees, and grape vines to swing on. Reply

4.I live right next to the 3rd largest Amish settlement in the world(yeah, I'm serious, but they make good food). Reply

5.I live right near a Century Village. Reply

6.I have an extra room with a bed, and a couch that folds out into a bed. Reply

7.Only 45 minutes from Cleveland. Rock Hall, are museum, natural history museum,science museum, all kinds of fun places. Reply

I live on an island, equiped with it's own working lighthouse (that you can climb for a small fortune), where gorgeous sunsets and sunrises have been known to occur and the weather's usually beautiful!!!
We can go kayaking, which I recently found to be cool, and perhaps even see dolphins swimming. The Atlantic's warm (probably due to nuclear cooling) and you can surf small waves at high tide if that's something you're into- or want to try it. Or we can bike around at night, which tends to be fun

With its art-college-atmosphere, we can hang out in local, historic Savcannah coffee shops or enjoy the festivities like the Jewish or Asian food fest (yummy) jazz fest, sidewalk arts fest, etc. There's also a great park downtown and, of course, there's the beach across the street from where I live!
I'm about 2 hrs from Charleston, South Carolina, which I find to be a cool town with a huge and awesome flea market, great sushi, and large aquarium (hmm, ironic?) .. so we can take a daytrip!?!? I'm also, about two hours from Jacksonville, Florida.

I've come to love this place in the 2 years that I've lived here and think that you should come fall in love, too! It's really fun! So come visit me! Reply

I found that I wanted to post on this page, but I can't think of a single good reason why anyone should visit me in Huntington, IN . I don't like it much. It's okay as far as small, conservative, Midwestern towns go. Let me think... Reply

We're only 20 miles from Fort Wayne, 2nd-largest city in the state. They've got one or two cool dance organizations, art museums, a nice co-op, a cool park with a cool fountain in it.
Speaking of parks, there's a nice one down my street.

Damn, this is pathetic, isn't it?
Well, I live here. I like late-night conversations and I like sitting in the backyard while the dew forms, and I have a room with a wood floor and magazine cut-outs plastered all over the walls.

Huntington has sunshine, just like the rest of the world, and rain, and laughter. No big festivals, no special arts events. Just grass and genetically-modified corn fields, and a historic courthouse downtown.
And me. I'm here.

(Also we have a pretty college campus right by our house which is good for wandering around if you want to look at the trees and nice grass and buildings and whatnot, or alternately for playing Freak Out the Locals, if you happen to be feeling hostile over there, which I usually am. Everyone should visit me in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. There is nothing interesting here. This place sucks, but the people I've discovered here are one of a kind. My friends are unique and interesting. Every weekend something insane happens. Everyday a new memory... Reply

Saturday I took my mom's car instead of mine because of what happened the weekend before. (Another story) I went to the gas station, drunk, and starting grabbing food. As I was grabbing food, I explained to the clerk that I have no money, but I really need all of these things. I walked out with bags of chips, candy bars, and gum. Nothing happened. I was driving back and before I knew it my car was in a ditch. I started to run down the road with my food and realized that the five minute drive to my friend's house was actually an hour walk. So I threw up my thumb and got a ride from a young woman named Natali. She kept talking, but I just thanked her and gave her my chips. Reply

When I got to the house everyone was dancing and drinking. I calmly go, Hey you guys my car in some mud and won't get out. I had to hitch hike, but Natali was nice. I think she was gay. Hmm...Help. Reply

Everyone started laughing and no one believed me. I had to literally convince them for 40 minutes until they believed me when they didn't see my mom's car. Reply

We got into Brantly's car and drove to the ditch. My car was at a forty five degree angle in the ditch, in a heep of mud. Everyone, still unreasonably drunk, tried to push it out without prevail. So as we stood around and covered when the two state and county cops came, we noticed a stranger amongst the group. Reply

He nonshalauntly explained he had a tracker about ten feet away. He got the tracker...Got out the car...No scrathes...No nothing.... Reply

We went back and partied more. Many Many other things happened that night. Every night in fact. This story is a very small one, but the most recent with me being the main character. So come to Myrtle Beach... http://www.livejournal.com/users/altar_boys Reply
