Michael discovered unschooling when he was a senior in college (spring 2004), just in time to become certified as a classroom teacher for grades 1-6. Due to his increased awareness of the damaging nature of compulsory schooling, brought about both by his reading about unschooling and his own experiences working as a teacher and student, he has resolved to never work as a classroom teacher again. (He was a teacher long before getting certified, and continues to be.) A proud INFJ, he is thinking about eventually going to grad school and becoming a licensed child/family therapist. For now he works in child care, spending about 10 hours a week (not enough) with a delightful, if occasionally annoying, schooled 13 year old and about 11 hours a week (also not enough) with two other delightful schooled kids, ages 12 and 8.
